The Race Against Plant Extinction

As we move through the Anthropocene, our current geological era, the extinction rates of plants and animals are expected to increase. In 2021, NatureServe Chief Botanist Wesley Knapp published work with a broad team of botanists to document and assess the extinct plants of the United States and Canada. Wesley will present an update of these results and focus on ongoing work to prevent plant extinction. Wesley will also discuss the important role the conservation garden community plays in prevent plant extinctions.
