Meadowscaping: A Love Story – Cultivating the Beauty and Taming the Beast!
Title: Meadowscaping: A Love Story - Cultivating the Beauty and Taming the Beast! Location: Polly Hill Arboretum Date: Saturday, September 14 1-2:00pm Description: We’ve all fallen in love with the idea of meadows as an alternative to high maintenance and environmentally unfriendly lawns. And what’s not to love? Meadows conjure a romantic image of colorful blooming wildflowers and flowing grasses swaying in the breeze, birds and butterflies dancing with happily buzzing bees. But as with any successful (and hopefully long-term!) romance, establishing a healthy, functioning and aesthetically pleasing meadow requires an honest analysis of the landscape’s strengths and weaknesses, goal setting and planning, and preparation and maintenance. Join Theresa Sprague, owner of BlueFlax Design in Mattapoisett, MA, to explore these elements, learning from other meadow relationships (both successful and failed) in order to create the Meadowscape of our dreams. Theresa holds a Masters Degree in Sustainable Landscape Planning and Design from The Conway School of Landscape Design. $10/$5 for PHA members
