The Native Plants of Martha's Vineyard

The Arboretum plays a central role in the documentation and protection of our native flora through its research activities and educational programs.

Follow the links below to see current information on native plants. Many of these plants are highly recommended for creating natural landscapes which contribute to the biological diversity of the island. Be sure to avoid using plants that are considered rare and endangered, and never dig plants from the wild!

Our newsletter, Meristems, contains accessible articles on our natural flora in the section entitled, From the Vineyard Flora.
